The Malone University men's basketball team dropped a game to Wheeling University Wednesday evening 82-52. The Pioneers fall to 2-3 overall and Wheeling advances to 2-0. 52 points is Malone's lowest total in a game since playing Hillsdale on December 7, 2017.
Recap:
The Cardinals started the game on a 21-5 run. Emmanuel Ansong scored eight points, including a massive dunk. Jordan Reid converted a pair of and-ones to give Wheeling a commanding lead.
The Cardinal defense held Malone to just 15 first half points, and 0-for-8 shooting from deep.
Malone tried to cut the deficit early in the second half.

Jaret Majestic each scored a bucket or shot a pair from the free throw line to try to get the Pioneers back into it, but alas, the Cardinals caught a second wind and continued to pull away.
Cameron Watts scored his first career point as a Pioneer on a technical free throw late in the game as the Cardinals won 82-52.
Malone Individual Highlights:

Marcus Ernst led the team in scoring with 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting.

Eli Ramsey led the team in rebounds with nine, a new career-high.

Daylan Haynie played 38 minutes, put up seven points, grabbed four rebounds and dished two assists.
Wheeling Individual Highlights:
- Emmanuel Ansong continued his dominating performance from game one of the season for the Cardinals tonight, recording a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. He was an efficient 10-of-13 from the field.
- Jordan Reed scored 14 points and brought down five rebounds.
- Jay Gentry and Jarrett Haines each scored 10 points.
