Pioneers Struggle to Score in Loss to Wheeling

The Malone University men's basketball team dropped a game to Wheeling University Wednesday evening 82-52. The Pioneers fall to 2-3 overall and Wheeling advances to 2-0. 52 points is Malone's lowest total in a game since playing Hillsdale on December 7, 2017.

Recap:
The Cardinals started the game on a 21-5 run. Emmanuel Ansong scored eight points, including a massive dunk. Jordan Reid converted a pair of and-ones to give Wheeling a commanding lead.

The Cardinal defense held Malone to just 15 first half points, and 0-for-8 shooting from deep.

Malone tried to cut the deficit early in the second half. Marcus Ernst, Bo Myers, Daylan Haynie and Jaret Majestic each scored a bucket or shot a pair from the free throw line to try to get the Pioneers back into it, but alas, the Cardinals caught a second wind and continued to pull away.

Cameron Watts scored his first career point as a Pioneer on a technical free throw late in the game as the Cardinals won 82-52.
