Pioneer Seniors to Be Honored in Weekend Home Matches

The Malone University women's soccer team will play host to the University of Findlay and Tiffin University this weekend for the final home matches of the 2019 season. The Pioneers will play the nationally-ranked and undefeated Findlay Oilers on Thursday, October 31 at 3:30 pm. On Saturday, November 2, the team will square off with the Tiffin Dragons at 11:30 am. Prior to Saturday's match, Malone will celebrate Senior Day for Riley Nicholson, Lindsey Soltisz, Kirsten Hilty, Megan Fuller, Jeanette Soricelli and Haleigh Seman.

Malone currently holds the seventh spot in the G-MAC standings. The top eight teams will play in the Conference Tournament. The Pioneers hold a slim game and a half lead over Lake Erie in ninth with three games left to play.

Series History:
The Pioneers are 2-4 all-time against the Oilers with their most recent match being last season when Findlay won a match in Canton 2-1. Alexa Langenfeld scored a goal in the first half, but the Oilers struck for two goals with less than 10 minutes left in the contest to sink the Pioneers. The most recent win for Malone against Findlay came in 2017.

In the series history between Malone and Tiffin, the Pioneers are 3-12-3. In 2018, the Dragons won a home match against Malone 3-0. Before last season, it had been three years since Tiffin and Malone met when they were both members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Record: 7-5-0 (4-5-0)

The Pioneers look to turnaround what has been a tumultuous slide in the last two weeks. Malone has dropped four straight road matches in that time and are trying to right the ship before post-season play begins. The Pioneers are 4-1-0 at home this season, which might be the spark needed to gain momentum.

Malone still holds the fourth best scoring offense in the G-MAC at exactly two goals per game. Danielle Lung has led the way with 11 goals on the year, placing her second in the conference. Lung averages 4.42 shots per game, which is good for third in the G-MAC.

Behind Lung in scoring for the Pioneers are Kirsten Hilty and Keeley Malley. Hilty has netted four goals this season and Malley three. Hilty has been very efficient in her shot selection this season and has a .750 shot on goal percentage (12-of-16). Malley scored the lone goal in a 2-1 loss against Ohio Dominican last Saturday.

Defender Lindsey Soltisz crossed the 1,000 minute threshold in the team's last game. Soltisz, along with her backline teammates of Natalie Martorana and Brooke Lindenschmidt, have been essential to the Pioneer success this season.

Goalkeeper Haleigh Seman has faced 41 of her 106 shots this season in the last four games. Seman has made 38 saves and has three shutouts this season.

NCAA DII #21 Findlay Team Notes: Schedule | Roster | Statistics
Record: 11-0-1 (9-0-1)

The Findlay Oilers are undefeated in 2019 and come into Thursday's game with the Pioneers winners of nine straight. The Oilers have only given up three goals all season. Findlay holds the top spot in the G-MAC table with nine conference wins and one tie.

Sierra Peacock has led the way for the Oilers offensively with seven goals and three assists. 17 points places her fourth in the conference. Peacock has an impressive .694 shot on goal percentage (25-for-36).

Freshman Jayla Campbell has converted six goals on 32 shots this season. Peacock, Campbell and Olivia Frank each have two game-winning goals for the Oilers in 2019.

Lindsey Ahbe, Sierra Perry and Ashley Zenker anchor the Findlay defense. Freshman Sam Francis leads the team in assists with five.

Findlay utilizes two goalkeepers in Anna Money and Alexis Burke. Money has been money this season; she has made 21 saves and has yet to allow a goal. Burke has made 15 saves and received time in 11 of 12 games, including five starts.

Tiffin Team Notes: Schedule | Roster | Statistics
Record: 1-12-1 (1-8-1)

Tiffin will face Walsh on Thursday, October 31 before playing the Pioneers on Saturday, November 2. The Dragons lost a pair of matches last weekend to Ursuline (3-0) and Lake Erie (1-0).

Tiffin is a relatively young team, with five freshman seeing action in all 14 games this season.

Tiffin's leading goal scorers are Sierra Besecker and Lily Cady with three apiece. Julia Effinger and Claudia Santillan share the team lead in assists with two.

Kristen Walker and McKenna Crutchfield steady the Dragon defensively. The duo has one assist and five shots combined.

Nahomi Lopez leads Tiffin in net and has 88 saves and one shutout this season.
