McFeaters Scores Three as Pioneers Win Third Straight

The Malone University men's soccer team thrashed Kentucky Wesleyan 4-0 on Saturday afternoon to win their third straight match. Nathan McFeaters recorded his first career hat trick by scoring three goals in only 59 minutes to sink the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan. Jeff Kreinbrook added a goal, his first career goal and point scored as a Pioneer player.

Malone advances to 4-5-2 on the season, and 3-5-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. Kentucky Wesleyan drops to 4-7-1, 2-6-1 in the G-MAC.

McFeaters started the Pioneer scoring early in the first half with an unassisted goal just six minutes into the match on his second shot.

He would find the back of the net again in the 26th minute off of a pass from Austin Coldsnow. Coldsnow centered the ball with a pass inside to McFeaters and he turned and scored with the defense draped all over him. The score remained 2-0 going into the half.

In just the 61st minute of play, McFeaters completed the trifecta and netted his third goal of the game, this time with an assist from Jake Martell. Martell blocked a pass around the center line, took one dribble and stunned the defense with an arcing pass to McFeaters. McFeaters beat the keeper with his right foot to the bottom left corner of the goal to extend the lead to 3-0.

Austin Coldsnow continued to put pressure on the Panther defense and in the 76th minute, weaved in and out of traffic and centered the ball, hoping something good would happen. After the ball was batted around by the defense, Jeff Kreinbrook came flying in on the left side of the net and tapped the ball home for the fourth Pioneer goal.

In total, the Pioneers took 17 shots, including five from McFeaters and three from Jonathan Dendinger.

The defenders turned into offensive weaponry for Malone today, as Kreinbrook scored, Martell recorded an assist, Dendinger took three shots, as well as two shots from defenseman Nick Fry.

In goal, Alexandre Durand did not allow a Panther score for his first shutout of the season.

Up next, the Pioneers will host Cedarville University on Thursday, October 24. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
