The Malone University women's soccer team will play host to Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opponent, the Alderson Broaddus Battlers, in the second match of a home-and-home series on Saturday, October 12 at 1 pm. The match will be a men's and women's doubleheader, with the men's team facing the Battlers shortly after at 3:30 pm.

The Pioneers are off to the second-best start to a season in program history. All the way back in 2001, the team won their first seven matches. Last week, Malone shutout both Lake Erie 3-0 and Ursuline 1-0 to pick up a pair of conference wins. Consistency throughout the long season will be key here in the month of October if the Pioneers want to keep pace with the front runners of the G-MAC as they position themselves for the conference tournament.Â

As a team, Malone is third in the G-MAC in shots with 128 and second in the conference in goals allowed at .57 per match played. The Pioneers are outshooting opponents 128-68.

Danielle Lung is second in the conference with seven goals on the season. Lung and
Keeley Malley both have two game-winning goals in 2019, including Malley's goal in a 1-0 win over Ursuline in the Pioneers' last game.

Lindsey Soltisz was named Malone Athlete of the Week for her efforts on the defensive line in two shutouts this past week. She is joined in the backfield by

Haleigh Seman made a total of seven saves in last week's wins. In the conference, Seman is second in goals against average with a miniscule .486 goals allowed per match.
