Malone Notes
  • The Pioneers, now winners of five straight matches, are coming off a 2-0 weekend that featured wins over Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene.
  • Head coach Tanya Hockman's team has found the recipe for success over the last two weeks, limiting attack errors and playing exceptional defense. Malone continues to lead the conference in digs, blocks, and opponents hitting percentage.
  • Individually, middle hitters Mallory Adams and Hannah Eliason are top-5 in the G-MAC in blocks, averaging better than one per set. Adams leads the team in kills (3.16 per set) and hitting percentage (.296) while Eliason is second in both (2.68 kills per set, .296 hitting percentage).
  • Outside hitter Veronica Gehring, who leads the team in attacks, has come on strong as of late, reaching double-digit kills in four-straight matches.
  • In eight G-MAC matches this season, senior setter Cathryn Miller is averaging 10.73 assists per set, marking the fourth-most in the conference. Miller is nearing the 3,000 career assists and could reach the milestone as early as this weekend.
  • Senior libero Maggie Hamrock, who tied a season-high with 24 digs vs. Kentucky Wesleyan, has climbed to 3rd in the G-MAC in digs per set (4.93).
  • Freshman defensive specialist Abby Hasebein totaled a season-high 14 digs against Kentucky Wesleyan and averaged 3.18 digs per set over three wins last week.
  • Malone went 1-1 in two matches with Lake Erie last season, winning in four sets at home in September behind a career-high 17 kills by Veronica Gehring. The Storm then swept Malone in Painesville in the season finale.
