Fast Start Powers Women’s Soccer To 3-1 Win Over Alderson Broaddus

The Malone University women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 home victory on Thursday afternoon in its Great Midwest Athletic Conference match against Alderson Broaddus University.

The Pioneers rattled off three goals in the first 20 minutes of play as they pulled away for their first conference win of the season.

Dani Giles got the scoring started in the 14th minute, netting her first career goal off a pass from Madeline Ault.

Ault then got on the scoreboard less than two minutes later, registering her third goal of the season to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Pioneers.

Malone's quick strike attack then came through again just moments later as forward Danielle Lung collected the rebound off her own shot attempt and then fired to the far post, putting Malone in command.

The score remained at 3-0 until the 80th minute of the contest when ABU's Jordan Lessnau scored off a free kick.

With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 2-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the G-MAC while Alderson Broaddus slipped to 0-8-0 and 0-6-0 in conference matches.

Pioneer goalkeeper Haleigh Seman made one save in the first half.  Freshman Jessica Morgan then took over in front of the net for the final 45 minutes and made four saves.
