Ty Jordan Signs Professional Contract In Spain

Malone University men's basketball standout Ty Jordan recently signed a professional contract with CB Clavijo, a team based in Logrono, Spain that competes in the LEB Oro league (Liga Espanola de Baloncesto).

Jordan, from Houston, Texas, wrapped up his Pioneer playing career in March after leading Malone to a 19-10 overall record and a spot in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.  The 6'3" guard was voted to the Great Midwest First Team for the second consecutive year after averaging 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

"We are very excited and proud of Ty," commented Pioneer head coach Casey Kaufman.  "He has grown and improved in so many ways during his time at Malone and we are excited so see him do more of that in the future.  Ty is a great example of a guy who has trusted the process.  He will be playing in one of the best leagues in all of Europe.  We will be following Ty closely from Canton and wish him the best of luck."

Jordan ended 2017-18 tied for first in the G-MAC with an average of 3.2 made three-pointers per contest.  He also ranked third in the league in scoring, fourth in free-throw percentage (81.9%), fourth in steals, fourth in three-point percentage (41.0%) and fifth in assists.  He was also one of only five players in NCAA Division II to average at least 20 points, five rebounds and four assists last year.

After transferring to Malone from Hesston College, Jordan racked up 1,005 points in just two seasons in a Pioneer uniform.  His career scoring average of 17.9 points per game is ninth-best in program history.

Jordan is the second Pioneer men's basketball player to sign a professional contract in recent years, joining center Brian Stone, who competed for Malone from 2012-16.  Stone averaged 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds last season for the Portuguese team Electrico FC.

Jordan's team, CB Clavijo, is slated to open its 2018-19 season in late September.  Evan Yates, a former NCAA Division II All-American forward at Ashland University, played in 34 games and averaged a team-high 13.8 points and 8.5 rebounds for CB Clavijo during the 2017-18 season.
