The Malone University softball team lost a pair of games at Kentucky Wesleyan College on Friday. The Pioneers lost game one 8-0 in five innings before dropping game two 14-0 in five innings.
Bailey Byers went two for two in game one, hitting a single and a double. Byers' double came in the first Pioneer at-bat of the contest. The Panthers held a 1-0 lead through three innings of the opener but then broke things open with four runs in the fourth inning and three more runs in the fifth.
KWC took command early on in game two, tallying seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Madison Corrick reached base twice in the finale, going one for one and getting hit by a pitch. Corrick's single came in the fourth inning, and was followed by a single by
Serena Tucciarelli. The fourth inning of game two was Malone's only inning where multiple players had hits on the day.
Malone will play their last doubleheader of the season on Monday against Point Park as they celebrate Senior Day. Game one is set to begin at 4:00 on Monday. Malone's seniors will be honored prior to the start of the first game.
