The Malone University softball team celebrated their Senior Day with a pair of victories over Point Park. Malone won game one in five innings, earning an 8-0 shutout. Malone went on to win game two by a score of 9-5.

Game One Recap
The Pioneer offense took no time at all to heat up, as they fired off six runs in the first inning. The first three batters for Malone each singled in their first at-bat, loading the bases with nobody out.
Anna Myers knocked in
Bailey Byers for the first run of the game. The Pioneers took the 6-0 lead on five hits and an error, topped off by a two-RBI single by
Shelby Hulin.
Malone added a run in the third on an RBI double by
Bailey Byers.
Serena Tucciarelli led off the fourth inning with a triple, and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Ashley Beck for an 8-0 lead.
Malone was able to shut down Point Park in the fifth to end the game in five innings.Â
Allyson Gruen gave up just three hits and struck out four batters in five innings of shutout softball.
Bailey Byers,
Madison Corrick and
Serena Tucciarelli each had multi-hit games in the contest. Corrick and Tucciarelli each stole a base in the game as well.

Game Two Recap
Point Park threatened to score first in game two, getting runners on second and third with one out in the second. However, Malone was able to get out of the inning without giving up a run.
One swing of the bat blew the game wide open in the bottom of the second as
Bailey Byers smashed a grand slam to centerfield, giving Malone a 4-0 lead.
Madison Corrick followed with a double and scored on an error to give Malone a 5-0 lead after two.
Point Park clawed back into the game, scoring three runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to tie the game 5-5.
Malone answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning with four runs of their own to take the lead for good.
Emily Beck led off with a single, and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Back-to-back singles by
Maria Mokler and
Shelby Hulin brought Beck home to regain the lead. Malone would score three more times on three errors by Point Park to take a 9-5 lead.
Point Park attempted to rally, loading the bases and bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs. However they were not able to bring a run across the plate, as Malone went on to win 9-5.
Shelby Hulin went three for four in the contest and drove in a run that gave Malone a 6-5 lead.
Emily Beck and
Maria Mokler each had two hits in the game.
