The Malone University softball team dropped a pair of games on the road to Lake Erie College on Monday. The Pioneers lost game one 6-1 before falling 8-0 in five innings of game two. Malone slipped to 12-16 overall and 5-13 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play following Monday's doubleheader.
Game One Recap
The Pioneers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the game, but unfortunately that would be the only run for the Pioneers. That run came by way of a pair of hits, an error, and a passed ball.
Bailey Byers hit a single and got to second on an error.
Anna Myers singled to move Byers to third. Byers then scored on a passed ball for the sole Pioneer run.
The Pioneer offense actually out-hit Lake Erie 9-8, but was unable to string the runs together.
Lake Erie answered back with a quick run of their own in the bottom of the first inning. After a silent second inning, the Storm scored runs in the third, fourth, and fifth inning to take a 6-1 victory.
Isabella Roberts suffered the loss after surrendering three earned runs on six hits through four innings of work.

Nicole Ferrara each had multiple hits in the contest.Â
Game Two Recap
The Pioneer offense managed just three hits in the finale. All three Pioneer came in the top of the fifth inning, loading the bases for a chance to keep the game alive. However, the Pioneers were unable to get a run across the plate.
Lake Erie took command in the first inning, scoring six runs on five hits. The Storm would tack on two more runs in the second, which would hold for the 8-0 victory.

Ashley Beck and
Shelby Hulin each registered a base hit in the fifth inning for the Pioneers.
Up Next
Malone will be back in action over the weekend. The Pioneers will head to Trevecca Nazarene on Friday before squaring off with Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.
