Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Loses Two Against Findlay

The Malone University softball team lost a pair of conference games against Findlay on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers lost 11-3 in five innings in game one and were shutout 8-0 in six innings in game two. After losing six straight games, the Pioneers have dropped to below .500 with a 12-14 record.

Game One Recap

The Pioneer offense was only able to get one hit in the first three innings of play. Fortunately, that hit was a second-inning homerun by Ashley Beck. Beck is now tied for Bailey Byers with five home runs on the season.

Findlay answered back with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the second inning. The homerun would ignite a five hit, three run inning for Findlay as they took a 3-1 advantage.

A pair of hits and a pair of Pioneer errors would extend Findlay's lead to 6-1 in the third inning.

Findlay committed a pair of errors of their own in the top of the fourth as Malone scored two runs on two hits, cutting the lead to 6-3.

Findlay answered back with four runs on six hits in the bottom of the inning and added one more run in the sixth to take the 11-3 victory.

Madison Corrick accounted for two of Malone's four hits in the game. Ashley Beck homered and Alexis Burke singled in the contest.

Game Two Recap

Findlay picked up in game two where they left off in game one, as the Oilers scored four runs in the inning highlighted by a triple and error combination that accounted for three runs.

The Oilers went on to score two more runs in the third and scored one run each in the fifth in sixth innings on their way to an 8-0 shutout.

The Pioneers were only able to get one runner in scoring position in the contest.  In the sixth inning Anna Myers hit a single to move Serena Tucciarelli over to second, but that would be the most that Malone would threaten all game.

Just three Pioneers had hits for Malone in game two, while two players reached base on walks.
