The Malone University softball team lost a pair of games to Davis & Elkins on Wednesday evening. The Senators won game one by a score of 4-3 before winning the second game 5-2.
Game One Recap
Game one was all Davis & Elkins through the first three innings, as the Senators scored one run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead.
Malone answered back with one big inning in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs,
Madison Corrick got the bats going with a single up the middle. An error by Davis & Elkins would put runners on first and second for
Anna Myers. Myers delivered with a double to right center, scoring Corrick and
Serena Tucciarelli.
Ashley Beck smacked a game-tying single to centerfield, scoring Myers for the 3-3 tie.
The Pioneer rally was short-lived, as Davis & Elkins answered back with another run in the top of the 6
th to take the lead for good.

Game Two Recap
The Senators threatened to break things open early in the first inning. A Pioneer error and a one-out double gave them an early 1-0 lead. After loading the bases,
Samantha Fruchey was able to work out of the jam and hold Davis & Elkins to just the one run.
Davis & Elkins loaded the bases up again in the third inning, and again Fruchey was able to get out of the jam allowing just one more run.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third with one on and one out,
Bailey Byers tied up the game with one hard swing of the bat.
Nicole Ferrara scored on the long homer to left field along with Byers, bringing the score to 2-2.
Davis & Elkins regained the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs to make it 4-2. They would add one more run in the sixth for the 5-2 victory. Â
Bailey Byers had a three-hit game, hitting a homerun and a double in the contest.
Emily Beck went two for three with a double.
