The Malone University men's and women's swimming and diving teams have completed competition in the 2018 Great Midwest & Mountain East Conference Championships. Both teams had outstanding finishes.
The women took third among 10 teams, scoring 953.50 points. The men finished second among eight squads, notching 1,202 points.
Coach
Russ Hunt was named the Men's Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the event for his team's performance and several school records were broken in the season finale for the Pioneer squad.

Women's Highlights
Carolin Friedrich finished third in the 1650 Yard Freestyle in a time of 18:19.81.
Anna Hesseman moved into Malone's top ten list in the event, finishing in 19:52.05.
Denise Quentin finished in fifth in the 100 Yard Freestyle in a time of 53.09. Her preliminary time of 52.95 moves her to second all-time at Malone.
Abby Reynolds placed eighth, finishing in 53.73.
Nicole Kenny moved into fifth place on Malone's top ten list with a time of 56.99,
Alaina Hartley moved up to sixth with a time of 57.25, and
Lauren Cantor moved into eighth with a time of 57.89.
Kaylor Schuttinger broke the school record in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:15.44.
Carolin Friedrich moved to third with a time of 2:17.82.
Brittany Sheets moved to fourth with a time of 2:20.98.
Stephanie Sprague moved up to eighth with a time of 2:25.19.
Kaila Butterworth finished eighth in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Her preliminary time of 2:29.08 is second all-time at Malone.
Jessica Slater's time of 2:35.76 is fifth all-time.

Men's Highlights
Nick Wertz finished second in the 1650 Yard Freestyle. Wertz's time of 16:29.72 is the fastest ever at Malone. His previous personal best time, 16:38.94, was second fastest at Malone. Wertz's teammate,
Wesley Hammond, finished just behind Wertz in third place in the race.
Wesley Hammond's time of 16:36.01 is now second all-time at Malone as both swimmers broke the school record during the event.
Rhett Sanford moved to fourth on Malone's top ten list in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:02.44.
Austin Weingart moved to seventh with a time of 2:05.49.
Peyton Hamilton finished eighth in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. His preliminary time of 2:16.44 moves him to fifth all-time at Malone. Brandley Bowers moved into sixth with a time of 2:16.67.
Noah Curl improved his personal best time to 2:19.66.
