Men’s Basketball Eighth In NCAA Division II Regional Rankings

NCAA Div. II Men's Basketball Regional Rankings

The Malone University men's basketball team has earned the No. 8 position in the first NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings of the season.

The Pioneers are currently on a seven-game winning streak and own on an overall record of 19-7.

Ferris State University is first in the Midwest Region with a 24-1 record.  The University of Findlay, who Malone defeated back on February 1, is second with a 20-3 mark.  A total of four Great Midwest Athletic Conference teams appear in the Midwest's Top 10 including Findlay, Hillsdale College in sixth, Malone and Walsh University in ninth.

The Midwest Region is comprised of the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Eight teams from eight different regions will advance to the NCAA Championship bracket with each conference receiving one automatic qualifier by way of winning their respective conference tournament title.

The remaining bids for the regional bracket are distributed to five at-large selections, determined by the order of the final Midwest Region rankings.

The Pioneers, who have already clinched a berth in the Great Midwest Postseason Tournament, will return to action this Saturday as the squad travels to North Canton for a 1:00 p.m. match-up against Walsh in the 54th annual Mayors' Cup.
