Day Two Heat Sheet (Prelims)
The Malone University swimming & diving teams took part in the opening day of competition at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference / Mountain East Conference Championships on Wednesday.
Following Wednesday's results, the Pioneer men are in second place among eight teams with 260 points while the Malone women are third among 10 competing institutions with 198.50 points.
The four-day event continues on Thursday at C.T. Branin Natatorium with the prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the finals starting at 6:00 p.m.

Women's Highlights
In the 1000-yard freestyle,
Carolin Friedrich earned a sixth-place overall finish after registering a new personal-record time of 10:56.74. The strong showing is second on Malone's all-time performers list.
In the 200-yard individual medley,
Denise Quentin took seventh overall while
Kaila Butterworth was eighth. Quentin posted a personal-record time of 2:10.96 in the finals which ranks as the second-fastest in program history. Butterworth, meanwhile, posted a new PR during the prelims. Her time of 2:11.43 is now the third best in program history.Â
Jessica Slater also registered the fastest time of her career in the prelims and is now 10th on Malone's all-time list at 2:23.90.
Abby Reynolds finished in a tie for third in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle with a new personal-record time of 24.44, second-fastest in Pioneer history. In the prelims of the event,
Nicole Kenny posted a mark of 25.42 seconds while
Lauren Cantor recorded a time of 25.51 seconds. With their prelim performances, Kenny is now third on Malone's all-time list in the event while Cantor is fifth.
The Pioneers took home a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Kenny, Slater,
Quincy Livchak and Cantor tallied a mark of 1:54.09 which ranks as the eighth-best in school history.

Men's Highlights
Three Pioneers earned spots on the podium in the 1000-yard freestyle as
Nick Wertz placed third in 9:50.90,
Rhett Sanford was sixth in 10:04.12 and
Wesley Hammond placed eighth in 10:04.68. All three marks were personal records as Wertz remained at No. 3 on Malone's all-time list while Sanford moved up to sixth and Hammond took over seventh.
In the 200-yard individual medley,
Peyton Hamilton took 10th overall and
Markus Brunzel was 16th. In the prelims, Hamilton took over the eighth spot on Malone's all-time list with a mark of 2:03.09. Brunzel, meanwhile, is now 10th all-time in the event after touching the wall at 2:05.39.
Cobie Mikesell finished eighth in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle. His time of 21.70 seconds moves him to seventh on the all-time Malone list.
Malone's 200-yard medley relay team of Mikesell,
Bradley Bowers,
Brice Dixon and
Noah Curl took third with a mark of 1:37.03.
