Pioneers Cruise To 101-54 Victory Over East-West

The Malone University men's basketball team registered a convincing 101-54 win against East-West University on Tuesday night at Osborne Hall.

With their second-consecutive lopsided home victory, the Pioneers improved to 2-2 on the season.  East-West University, a USCAA member institution located in Chicago, Illinois, dropped to 0-16 with the loss.

Game Recap
Much like in its win on Saturday against Kentucky State University, Malone used a big scoring run midway through the first half to take command.

The Pioneers led 25-19 eight and a half minutes into the contest and then used a 16-2 surge to extend their advantage to 41-21 with a little less than seven minutes to go in the opening stanza.

Guards Bryce Butler and Jaret Majestic combined for 11 points during the run as Majestic canned a pair of treys while Butler scored on a fast-break lay-up and then later drained a three-pointer of his own.

Guard Nate Sheppard would then close out the first half by sinking three consecutive free throws, sending the Pioneers to the locker room at the break holding a 51-28 advantage.

The Phantoms were unable to pull closer than 22 throughout the second half as Malone converted on over 52% of its shot attempts during the final 20 minutes, pulling away for the non-conference triumph.
