2018-19: Ernst played in all 29 games, including 28 starts during a breakout sophomore season…Totaled 224 points (7.7 ppg), 234 rebounds (8.1 rpg), 47 assists, 28 steals, and a team-high 23 blocks across 837 minutes played…Shot 50.3% (88-of-175) from the field…Recorded 11 games with double-digit points and 11 games with double-digit rebounds…Ranked 6th in the G-MAC in rebounding and 6th in the G-MAC with six double-doubles…Registered first collegiate double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) in win over East-West (11/20/18)…Went 9-of-12 and scored a season-high 20 points at Davis & Elkins (2/9/19)…Pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds in road win at Alderson Broaddus (2/7/19)…Blocked a season-high four shots at Findlay (12/8/18)…Recorded a season-high three steals on two different occasions
2017-18: Played in all 29 games as a true freshman with the Pioneers, coming off the bench to average 13.7 minutes per game…Totaled 102 points, 112 rebounds, 19 assists, eight blocks, and five steals…Shot a team-high 55.4% (46-of-83) from the field…Scored a season-high 15 points (6-7 FG, 3-3 3PT) in a win over Alice Lloyd (11/21/17)…Tallied nine points and a season-high 13 rebounds in a win over Lake Erie (1/11/18).
Prior to Malone: Ernst lettered for Edgewood in basketball, football and baseball. On the hardwood, Ernst surpassed 1,000 career points for the Warriors. He averaged 20.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game as a senior, helping lead his team to the 2017 All-American Conference Championship. Following the completion of his outstanding senior season, Ernst was named First Team All-County, First Team All-AAC, Third Team All-District and the Ashtabula County Basketball Foundation Co-Player of the Year.
