Malone University outside hitter
Faith Lau was announced as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) East Division Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday following her superb performance in a pair of victories this past weekend. Lau led Malone to back-to-back three-set sweeps of Davis & Elkins and Alderson Broaddus, helping the Pioneers clinch their third-straight berth in the G-MAC Championship Tournament.
Â
Lau, a Navarre, Ohio native (Tuslaw High School), totaled 28 kills, 22 digs, and six service aces across the two matches. In addition to averaging 4.67 kills and 3.67 digs per set, the 5'9" junior produced a .400 attacking percentage with just four errors over 60 total attacks. Among G-MAC players last week, she was third in kills and hitting percentage, second in points (5.67 per set) and first in aces.
Â
Against Davis & Elkins on Friday, Lau finished with 13 kills and 10 digs to earn her third double-double of the season. She then followed that up with her second double-double of the weekend against Alderson Broaddus, matching a career-high with 15 kills to go along with 12 digs. Her four service aces in the contest were also a new career-best.
Â
So far this season, Lau has played in 25 of 26 matches and 86 of the Pioneers' 92 sets. She leads the team in aces (27), ranks second on the team in digs (3.06 per set), and is fourth in kills (2.26 per set).
