The Malone University women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon by registering a 1-0 home victory over visiting Lake Erie College.
Junior
Kirsten Hilty scored the game-winning goal in the 22nd minute Saturday afternoon. The score was Hilty's second of the season
Danielle Lung was busy with five shots of her own and assisted Hilty on her goal.
There were six other Pioneers who contributed with shots and their defense protected the net during the whole match.Â
It was senior recognition night at Canton Central Catholic High School where all the seniors started:Â
Brylee Jones,
Dani Giles,
Kassidy Hannum, and
McKenzie Chappell. The win kept the Pioneers mathematically alive for the final Great Midwest playoff spot. Chappell had a special night with seven saves while shutting out the Storm.
The Pioneers also won in style wearing pink socks and accessories promoting Cancer Awareness.
Malone is 5-8-2 overall and 3-8-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference following its third consecutive victory while the Storm drop to 5-9-1 overall and 4-8-1 in conference play.
The Pioneers held a 15-13 advantage in total shots, 4-3 in corner kicks, and 7-6 shots-on-goal over Lake Erie
