Malone Blanked by Walsh in Season Finale

The Malone University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to rival Walsh University in its season finale Tuesday night in North Canton. The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Pioneers, who ended the season at 5-9-2 overall and 3-9-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Walsh (12-3-1, 11-2-1 G-MAC) held a slim advantage in shots (10-7), shots on goal (6-5), and corner kicks (5-3). A pair of first-half goals by the Cavaliers, in the 14th and 36th minutes, proved to be the difference.

Playing in her final collegiate game, senior Dani Giles led Malone with three shots, including one on goal. Natalie Martorana put a pair of shots on net, but was turned away twice by goalkeeper Mickey McClanahan, who earned her G-MAC leading 8th shutout of the season.

Malone keeper Haleigh Seman recorded four saves in the contest and finished with 68 saves on the season.
