Women's Soccer Loses to Ursuline

The Malone University women's soccer team lost to Ursuline 2-1 on Thursday. The Pioneers fall to 2-4-2 on the season, 0-3-2 in the conference.

Malone controlled the tempo early in the contest. Kassidy Hannum broke the 0-0 tie in the 31st minute of play. Kaela Kovanda assisted Hannum's goal, her third assist on the season. Hannum's goal was her first of the season.

Despite being outshot 6-2 in the first half, Malone was able to hold a 1-0 lead at the break.

The Pioneers would hold their lead until the 69th minute of play when Ursuline was awarded a free kick. Haley Knox was able to take advantage of the free kick to tie the game up at one goal apiece.

Just five minutes later the Arrows took the lead. Brooke Mahabir scored a header off of a deflected shot. The game winning-goal was Mahabir's first on the season. Steph Chlad, who has already scored eight goals this season, had the assist on Mahabir's goal.

Malone was unable to answer back with a goal of their own before time ran out, falling 2-1 to the Arrows.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Lake Erie.
