Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Loses Tight Battle

The Malone University men's soccer team lost a hard-fought battle against Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday afternoon at the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Legacy Sports Complex.

The Trojans controlled the tempo early on in the contest, taking a 2-0 advantage within thirty minutes of play. The Trojans allowed just one shot on goal for the Pioneers in those first thirty minutes. That shot led to the only save of the contest for Travecca's keeper, Tyler Delgado.

With just a minute remaining in the first half, Nathan McFeaters put the Pioneers on the board. McFeaters' goal, assisted by Jordan Young, ignited a spark of energy that would carry on through the rest of the game.

That spark of energy from McFeaters in the first half turned into full-blown fireworks when Sam Condon tied the game up 2-2 ten minutes into the second half. Brock Venman booted the ball down field to Nathan McFeaters who headed the ball down to the feet of Condon. Condon turned and fired the ball into the back of the net.

Trevecca answered back with a goal of their own just over a minute later, regaining the lead 3-2.

The Pioneer men continue to battle on, and their efforts were once more rewarded with a Sam Condon goal. Condon took a long pass from Jacob Rice and was able to beat his defender and the keeper, tying the game back up 3-3. Condon now had four goals on the season.

Despite great efforts, Malone was unable to hold off the Trojans. Ethan Keogh scored his second goal of the day, and his fifth goal on the season, to give Trevecca the 4-3 lead with ten minutes remaining. The Pioneers were unable to answer before the final buzzer sounded.

Malone will be back in action at home against Salem International on September 26th.
