Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Victorious In Double Overtime

The Malone University men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season in exciting fashion! The Pioneer victory came in double-overtime by a score of 2-1.

The Pioneers struck first in the contest. In the 30th minute of play Jacob Rice took a pass from Joe Woodburn and booted it into the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Despite facing six shots on goal in the first half, Nick Wilhelm was able to keep Kentucky Wesleyan off the board.

Kentucky Wesleyan would answer back halfway through the second half to tie the game 1-1. The Panther goal came from 25 yards out by Victor Alhambra. Alhambra took a pass from Kaelin Hildreth and kicked it right at Wilhelm. Wilhelm was unable to hang on to the ball and it bounced into the net for the goal.

Malone stayed on the attack throughout the second half, attempting 18 shots to Kentucky Wesleyan's four. However, the Pioneers were unable to find the back of the net for a second time through regulation.

The game would remain in a 1-1 tie throughout the end of regulation and again through the first overtime period. In the 102nd minute of play, Sam Condon took a long pass from Jake Martell to score the game-winning goal for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Legacy Sports Complex. They will take on Trevecca Nazarene at 3:30pm.
