Women's Soccer Game Ends In Second Consecutive Tie

The Malone University women's soccer team tied with Davis & Elkins 1-1 on Saturday. This is Malone's second consecutive tie, after tying Alderson Broaddus 1-1 on Thursday.
 
As the score shows, these two teams battled back and forth for a full 110 minutes. Malone took 16 shots in the contest, compared to 15 by Davis & Elkins. Malone's keeper, Mackenzie Chappell, had seven saves. Davis & Elkins' keeper, Lauren Hill, had nine saves.
 
Danielle Lung scored the first goal of game, 33 minutes into the contest. Lung took a throw in from Natalie Martorana and booted it from a deep 25 yards and placed it perfectly into the top left corner of the net. Lung's goal was her fourth on the season.


 
The 1-0 lead for the Pioneers would hold through the end of the first half. Davis & Elkins' answer would come in the 57th minute of play when Tina Wulin scored an unassisted goal, her first goal of the season.
 
The score would remain 1-1 through the end of regulation. In the first overtime period Davis & Elkins controlled the ball. The Senators took three shots, one on goal, compared to zero shots by the Pioneers in the first overtime period.
 
The tables turned in the second overtime as Malone took three shots, compared to zero by Davis & Elkins. All three of Malone's shots in the second overtime period were shots on goal that were saved by Lauren Hill.
 
Malone will be back in action on September 21st in a home contest against Kentucky Wesleyan.
