The Malone University men's soccer team fell on the road to Alderson Broaddus in double overtime by a score of 2-1 on Thursday evening. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Pioneers fall to 0-4 (0-3) on the season.
Alderson Broaddus struck first, taking a 1-0 lead after a goal by Miro Diallo fifteen minutes into the game. Alderson Broaddus would keep that lead up until halftime.
Brock Venman would tie the game up at one goal apiece in the 60
th minute of the contest on an assist from
Jake Martell.
Neither team would find the back of the net again until Ashley Sibisi did so with just one minute remaining in the second overtime period. Sibis's goal, his third on the season, gave the Battlers a 2-1 victory over the Pioneers.
Alderson Broaddus took 32 shots in the game, compared to just five shots by Malone. Pioneer goalkeeper
Nick Wilhelm, was able to snag ten saves while allowing two goals in the double-overtime game.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday evening against Davis & Elkins in Elkins, West Virginia.
