Former Malone University men's golf All-American Justin Lower will take part in this week's Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour.  Lower, who topped the standings on the Swing Thought Tour in 2016, earned a spot in this week's PGA event after tying for third at the Monday qualifier with a four-under-par score of 68.

The Wells Fargo Championship, which will be held May 4-7 at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, North Carolina, marks Lower's fourth PGA Tour appearance.  Lower previously competed at the McGladreyy Classic in 2015, the Memorial Golf Tournament in 2014 and the Reno Tahoe Open in 2013.

Lower earned an individual NAIA National Championship as a junior at Malone in 2010 and became the first four-time NAIA and NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) All-American in Pioneer men's golf history.  In 2010, he was tabbed as the NAIA's Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year, an award given by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), recognizing the individual who had the best overall season.

In addition, Lower was also the 2011 recipient of the David Toms Award, a GCAA honor presented annually to one men's collegiate golfer (among all levels) who has overcome adversity to achieve collegiate excellence.

Lower's inspiring story is detailed in the following 2014 article by the Golf Channel's Jason Sobel: http://www.golfchannel.com/news/jason-sobel/lower-overcomes-grief-guilt-compete-memorial/
