The Malone University softball team lost both games in a double-header against Ursuline on Tuesday afternoon. The Arrows shutout the Pioneers 3-0 in game won, before winning game two 5-4 in walk-off fashion.

Game One Recap

The Pioneers were able to muster up just three hits in game one against Ursuline. The Arrows' pitcher, Gina Rosshirt, had a no-hitter going until
Allison Mercado broke it up with a single to left field in the fifth inning.
Mikayla Fowler would hit a single to center later in the inning.

Madison Corrick singled to left field in the sixth inning to extend her hitting streak to eleven games. Corrick would go on to extend that streak to twelve in game two.

Ursuline scored a run in the 3
rd, 5
th, and 7
th inning for the 3-0 victory. The Arrows had eight hits in the contest.

Game Two Recap

The Pioneer offense got things going in the second game, scoring five runs on eight hits. Seven different Malone batters were able to get a hit in the contest.

Ursuline scored the first run of the game in the second inning.

Ashley Beck tied the game up 1-1 on a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning.

Ursuline regained their lead in the fifth inning, but the Pioneers answered back in a big way in the sixth inning. With two outs and the bases loaded,
Caley Ritts hit a double to right field, scoring three runs and giving the Pioneers a 4-2 lead.

Due to a pair of Pioneer errors, Ursuline was able to add a run in the bottom half of the inning and cutting the Pioneer lead to 4-3.

Malone was able to get two more hits in the top of the seventh, but were unable to score any more runs, giving Ursuline one last shot at the plate down by one run.

Ursuline answered the call, scoring two runs on four hits in the final inning. An RBI single by Sadie Jones tied the game 4-4. Gina Rosshirt hit a walk-off single that scored Ellise Presutto for the 5-4 victory.
