Game Two Recap
Â
The Pioneers fell 6-0 in game two, while getting out-hit 13-0. Hannah Stroe picked up her fifth win of the season as she achieved one of the greatest accomplishments in all of sports, throwing a perfect game. Stroe had just three strikeouts in the contest, but put the Ashland defense in position to make plays behind her, and her teammates did just that.
Â
Paige Summers made a lot of noise at the plate, totaling four RBIs in the contest. Summers hit a double that scored two runs in the first to give Ashland the early 2-0 lead. She doubled again in the third inning to push Ashland's lead to 3-0.
Â
After an RBI single by Ally Farrah and a double-steal, Summers came up to the plate once more, and once more she delivered. Summers singled up the middle, scoring Farrah for the third time of the game and her fourth overall RBI, giving Ashland the 6-0 victory.
Â
Malone freshman,
Holly Groff, made her first start for the Pioneers in game two today. Groff is also a member of Malone's G-MAC women's basketball championship team. In her debut at third base Groff had three assists and two putouts for Malone, highlighted by chasing down a foul ball that seemed out of reach near the Pioneer dugout.
