The Malone University softball game dropped a pair of games to Cedarville University for the second day in a row. The Pioneers lost the first game 8-1 and the second game 7-6. Malone moves to a record of 7-9-1 on the season.

Game One Recap

Similar to Friday's games, Cedarville did their damage early in the contest. The Yellow Jackets scored six runs in the first two innings, three runs in each. Sarah Parsons highlighted the first inning with a two-out homerun.

The Pioneers would score their only run of the first game in the top of the third inning.

Cedarville would answer with a run of their own in the bottom half of the third and add one more in the sixth inning to earn the 8-1 victory.

Game Two Recap

In game two, the Pioneers started things off hot taking an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. With two outs,
Madison Corrick doubled to left field. After a
Caley Ritts walk,
Anna Myers stepped up to the plate and belted a double of her own, scoring Corrick and Myers.

Malone kept Cedarville off of the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the second, the Pioneers added one more run to take a 3-0 lead on an RBI single by
Ashley Beck.

The Yellow Jackets answered back in the bottom of the second, scoring four runs to take the 4-3 lead after two. Kaitlyn Woerner started the hit parade in the fourth with a one-out double. Malone gave up four hits and had two errors in the big inning for Cedarville.

Cedarville scored two more runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 6-3.

The Pioneers inched a little closer in the fifth, adding on one more run on an RBI double by
Emily Beck that scored Myers. The Pioneer defense kept Cedarville off of the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth to keep the score at 6-4 after five.

In the top of the sixth, Malone cut the deficit to one run on another RBI single by
Ashley Beck. Reidenbach scored her second run of the game on Beck's hit. Cedarville answered back with one run in the bottom of the inning to make the score 7-5.

The Pioneers made strong attempt at a rally in the top of the seventh. Malone had the bases loaded with nobody out but was only able to bring one run across the plate, coming up just short with a final score of 7-6.Â
Malone will look to bounce back on Monday when the squad travels to Cincinnati Christian University for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
