The Malone University softball team lost a pair of games to conference opponent, Cedarville University, on Friday. Cedarville shut Malone out 8-0 in the first game, and beat the Pioneers 10-2 in the second game of the day.

Game One Recap

After Malone went three up and three down to start the game, Cedarville took an early 1-0 lead thanks to great base-running by Danae Fields. Fields walked before stealing second and third, and then was brought home on a single to left by Kara Eiginger.

Cedarville broke things open in the third inning, adding on four more runs to take their lead to 5-0. The inning was highlighted by a two-out RBI single by Sarah Parsons.

Cedarville would tack on one more run in the fourth and two in the fifth to end things early in game one with a final score of 8-0.

Game Two Recap
Â
In game two, Fields again would cross home plate on a single by Eiginger to give Cedarville an early 1-0 lead.

Cedarville scored five more runs in the second for an early 6-0 lead. The big inning once again was highlighted by a Yellow Jacket triple, this time from Brianne O'Dell. O'Dell's triple scored Heather and Hannah Lord.

The Pioneers got on the board in the top of the third inning.
Maria Mokler singled up the middle, and moved over to second on a single by
Madison Corrick.
Ashley Beck walked to load up the bases. Mokler scored on a throwing error by the catcher while trying to pick off Beck at first.

Cedarville tacked on two more in the bottom of the third, taking their lead to 8-1.

The Pioneers would attempt to cut down the lead once again in the top of the fourth.
Allison Mercado singled to centerfield, bringing home
Anna Myers to make the score 8-2. However, Mercado's RBI would account for the last run of the day for the Pioneers.

Cedarville would add on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game 10-2. Malone and Cedarville will be back in action tomorrow morning at 10:00am for another double-header as the Pioneers seek some overnight revenge.Â
