Results

The Malone University swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition at the Wooster Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Both teams finished in eighth place in the three-day event. The women scored 610 points to finish eighth among 11 teams, while the men scored 498 to take eighth among nine teams.

Women's Highlights

• Brittany Sheets moved into fifth all-time at Malone with her time of 2:24.44 in the 200 Yard Backstroke. Stephanie Sprague improved her personal best in the event as well, completing the race in 2:25.82.

• Abby Reynolds placed third in the 100 Yard Freestyle finals with her time of 53.64. She improved her best time in the event from 53.95. Emily Schmidt moved into sixth place on Malone's top ten list by finishing in 58.16 in the preliminaries.  

• Kaila Butterworth moved up to fourth on Malone's top ten list in the 200 Yard Breastroke. Butterworth finished in a time of 2:34.83. She placed 15th in the the finals.

• Denise Quentin improved her personal best time in the 200 Yard Butterfly, finishing the race in 2:19.53. Quentin finished 14th in the preliminaries.

• Carolin Friedrich finished 11th in the 1650 Yard Freestyle in a time of 18:40.49. Sarah Mally finished the race in 20:04.45, moving her to ninth on Malone's top ten list. Kaylor Schuttinger is now tenth on that list with her finishing time of 20:15.32.

• Malone's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team broke the school record with their time in Saturday's race. The team placed fourth in the finals, finishing in a time of 3:37.58. Members of the relay team included Reynolds, Friedrich, Butterworth, and Quentin.

Men's Highlights

• Rhett Sanford improved his personal best time in the 200 Yard Backstroke by .01 seconds, finishing in 2:04.64 in the preliminaries.

• Peyton Hamilton moved up to sixth place all-time at Malone in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. His time of 2:18.54 was 18th in the preliminaries.

• Brice Dixon finished third in the finals of the 200 Yard Butterfly. His time of 1:56.07 is fifth at Malone. Markus Brunzel finished in 2:01.22, 18th at today's meet and seventh at Malone.

• Nick Wertz finished sixth in the finals of the 1650 Freestyle. Wertz finished the race in 16:52.20. Wesley Hammond came in 12th with a time of 17:23.03, sixth best at Malone.

• Cobie Mikesell moved into eighth on Malone's top ten in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Mikesell's time of 48.77 was 18th in the finals.  

• Dominic Mariano won the 1m dive with a score of 432.65. Mariano's score was the best mark of his career thus far.
