Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hot Shooting Carries Men’s Basketball To 108-54 Victory Against Point Park

The Malone University men's basketball team turned in one of the best shooting performances in program history on Saturday evening as the squad cruised to a 108-54 home victory over visiting Point Park University.

Malone shot a net-scorching 65.1% from the field in the contest, making 41 of its 63 overall shot attempts, including 16 of its 28 (57.1%) three-pointers.

The 65.1% accuracy marked the 14th-best single-game shooting performance in NCAA Division II this year and was Malone's best shooting display since February of 2002 when the Pioneers drained 67.4% of their attempts in a 94-92 win over Shawnee State University.

Malone's all-time single-game record for field-goal percentage is 69.6%, set during the 1990-91 campaign against Valley Forge.

In addition, the 108 points marked the most in a game for the squad since December of last season in a 114-62 victory against Wright State Lake.

Malone scored the first 12 points of Saturday's contest and never looked back.  Point Park shot just 24.1% from the field over the first 20 minutes and went to the locker room trailing by a 49-18 margin.

Malone then shot over 71% from the floor in the final stanza to cement the convincing victory.

The hosts improved to 7-4 overall and 6-2 at home following the win while Point Park, a member of the NAIA, fell to 4-9.
