The Malone University swimming & diving teams competed in the first day of the College of Wooster Invite on Thursday. After day one, the Pioneer women are currently eighth out of eleven teams with 175 points. The men are eighth out of nine teams with 138 points.
Men's Highlights
Wesley Hammond swam a personal best 4:49.72 in the 500 Yard Freestyle to finish in 17
th place (First in the C-group).
Brice Dixon cracked Malone's top ten list in the preliminary round of the 50 Yard Freestyle. Dixon's time of 22.21 was 20
th out of 57 in the event.
Women's Highlights
The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of
Denise Quentin,
Abby Reynolds,
Kaila Butterworth, and
Nicole Kenny finished fourth in the event in a time of 1:39.39. The squad's time broke Malone's school record in the event.
Also in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of
Lauren Cantor,
Emily Schmidt,
Jessica Slater, and
Stephanie Sprague wrote their name into Malone's top ten list. Their time of 1:44.50 is eighth on Malone's top ten list.
Denise Quentin swam the 200 Yard Individual Medley in a time of 2:13.56. Quentin's time puts her second all-time at Malone. She finished tenth in today's race.
Abby Reynolds finished fifth in the 50 Yard Freestyle final. Her time of 24.53 in the prelims is her personal best.
The Pioneers will be back in action tomorrow at 10:00 am for day two in the Wooster Invite.
