The Malone University women's soccer team defeated the University of Findlay by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneer road victory brings the team's record to 4-4-3 (2-3-3) on the season.
The Pioneers were the aggressors early on in the contest, outshooting Findlay 10 to 5 in the first half. Both of Malone's goals in the contest came in that first half.
Alexa Langenfeld scored the first goal for the Pioneers in the 33
rd minute of play. Seven minutes later,
Alex Carcano scored as well, giving the Pioneers a 2-0 lead going into the half. Both Langenfeld and Carcano came off the bench for the Pioneers and took advantage of their opportunity. Each attempted just one shot in the contest and scored on that attempt.
Nine of Malone's twelve shots were on-goal compared to eight of Findlay's fifteen shots being on goal.
McKenzie Chappell saved the first seven shots on goal that came her way in the contest before finally allowing a goal with ten minutes remaining in the contest.
Findlay attempted two more shots in the final few minutes of play, but they were unable to find the back of the net as the Pioneers emerged victorious by a score of 2-1.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Thursday, October 12
th against Cedarville University as the team begins a five game home stand.
