Pioneers Shut Out By Nationally-Ranked Oilers

Linebacker Ryan Weber moved up to fourth on Malone's all-time tackles list after making 19 stops during Thursday's game.

The Malone University football team suffered a tough 49-0 loss at home on Thursday night to the University of Findlay, the squad ranked 22nd in the most recent NCAA Division II National Poll.

The Oilers scored touchdowns on four of their six drives in the first half to take a 28-0 advantage into the locker room at intermission.  Findlay then tacked on three more second-half touchdowns to improve its record to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.  The loss drops the Pioneers to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.

Malone's best scoring chance of the night came midway through the third quarter when a 34-yard pass completion from quarterback Cam Ingram to wide receiver Ashton Dulin on third down moved the ball to the Findlay 33-yard line.  However, the Oiler defense would hold Malone off the scoreboard after forcing and recovering a Pioneer fumble on a quarterback sack.
