The Malone University men's basketball team fell at home to Walsh University on Tuesday night by a final score of 93-74.
With the win, the Cavaliers completed a season-sweep of their cross-town rivals while improving to 4-0 on the season. The Pioneers, meanwhile, slipped to 2-3 overall.
Walsh used an 11-0 run midway through the first half to open up a 32-20 advantage. The Pioneers managed to remain within striking distance over the remainder of the opening period, whittling the lead to 43-35 at the break.
A three-pointer by guard
Kamron Carroll cut the deficit to 49-43 precisely five minutes into the final stanza. However, Walsh quickly responded, outscoring the Pioneers 8-1 over the next two and a half minutes to push the margin back out to 13 points at 57-44. The visitors would then maintain a double-digit advantage over the remainder of the contest.

Malone will take part in a tournament hosted by Gannon University on Friday and Saturday. The Pioneers will square off with Ohio Dominican University on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Depending on the outcome of Friday's contests, Malone will then play either Gannon or Lake Erie College on Saturday in the 5:30 pm Consolation Game or the 7:30 p.m. Championship Game.
