The Pioneers have gotten hot at the right time and are on a roll heading into Thursday's match-up. The team had to win multiple games at the end of the regular season in order to qualify for the G-MAC Postseason Tournament. The Pioneers then maintained their momentum in the G-MAC Quarterfinals, knocking off Cedarville, who was the last team to beat them in the regular season and was the tournament's No. 3 seed. Malone has not lost since October 15
th. In that time, they have tallied a 2-0-1 record.
In the semifinals, the Pioneers will face Ursuline, who is seeded second among the tournament's six teams. Ursuline defeated Malone in their first meeting this season 2-1. However, Malone was able to knock off Ursuline 3-1 in the last game of the regular season. That last meeting was an important game for both teams. Malone needed to win or tie in order to make the postseason and Ursuline was fighting for the #1 seed in the conference and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. In that game, Malone's three goals were the most that anyone has scored on Ursuline all season.Â
The Pioneers are peaking at the right time because they have created a balanced scoring attack that Coach
Josh Jones envisioned back in the pre-season and has come into fruition. In these past four must-win games, the Pioneers have gotten three goals from freshman
Kirsten Hilty. They have gotten two goals and an assist from junior
Darby Burch.
Kaela Kovanda, a junior defender, has a goal and an assist in these four games as well.
With young role players stepping up and clutch senior performers like
Christine Najjar and
Brianna Smith, who are each on Malone's all-time scoring list.and can take over when necessary, this is a confident Pioneer squad going into Thursday night's contest.

The Arrows of Ursuline finished the season as the #2 team in the G-MAC during the regular season. The team is led by freshman, Jill Bohling, who is second in the conference in points, goals and assists. She trails only
Christine Najjar of Malone in points and goals. Ursuline dominated the competition early on in the season, winning or tying their first six games. The Arrows had a stretch in the middle of the season where they suffered a few losses, but they team never lost two games in a row until Davis & Elkins and Malone beat them back-to -back in the last two games of the season. Ursuline had a first round bye in the tournament, so this semifinal game will be the first that they have played since their loss to the Pioneers in the regular season finale. On Thursday, we are going to find out if Ursuline's late-season struggles will continue in the playoffs or if the well-rested Arrows get back to their earlier dominance.

The winner of Thursday evening's contest will play in the G-MAC Championship Game on Saturday, November 5
th in Nashville. The winner of the G-MAC tournament will get an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Tournament.
