The Malone University volleyball team fell to 1-5 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) after dropping a four-set decision to Davis & Elkins College Friday night in Canton. The Pioneers won the first set 25-20 but dropped the next three sets 20-25, 23-25, and 24-26.

In closely-contested seesaw affair, Malone had more kills (59-52), more digs (94-85), and more blocks (6-5) but also had eight more errors (42-34). The Pioneers won the first set of the match for the 15th time this season but are just 4-21 overall. In four-set matches, Malone is just 1-8 on the season.

In Friday night's match, Malone was led offensively by
Mallory Adams and
Faith Lau, who evenly split 30 kills. Lau's 15 kills tied a season-high.
Haley Kool and
Veronica Gehring each added eight kills in the defeat. Setters
Cathryn Miller and
Tori Hall distributed 25 and 19 assists respectively.

On the defensive side of the net,
Lynsey Trusty posted a game-high 26 digs. Lau and Adams both finished with double-doubles, collecting 13 digs apiece. Hall also tallied 13 digs while
Maggie Hamrock totaled 12 digs. Adams also recorded a game-high four blocks.

The Pioneers will return to the court on Saturday at 2:00 pm.Â
