Archived Video Broadcast of Malone-NW Missouri StateThe Malone University volleyball team began its 2015 campaign on Friday by splitting a pair of matches in the first of two days of competition at its own Hall of Fame City Challenge.
The Pioneers began their tournament on Friday with a 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Urbana University before falling to Northwest Missouri State University by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-22.
In her first collegiate match, freshman
Mallory Adams notched a team-high 11 kills along with three service aces. Senior
Elizabeth Maczuzak posted nine kills and eight digs while setter
Cathryn Miller contributed 31 assists.
In Friday's finale against Northwest Missouri State, Adams again led the way with eight kills. Senior
Sarah Brent followed with six kills while Maczuzak and freshman
Veronica Gehring both added five kills apiece. Libero
Lynsey Trusty scooped up 10 digs and Miller tallied 21 assists.
Malone will wrap up the weekend with two more matches on Saturday. The Pioneers will face Edinboro University at 9:00 a.m. before taking on Concord University at 4:30 p.m.
