The Malone University men's soccer team started the 2015 season with a 2-1 loss on the road to non-conference opponent Slippery Rock University (PA) on Thursday night.

The home team would get on the scoreboard first in the 22^nd minute of the first half as midfielder Ryan Lutke made a penalty shot to gain the early 1-0 advantage. The Rock would hold the 1-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, SRU would score again, pushing the lead to 2-0 with 28 minutes remaining in the game.

11 minutes later, the Pioneers would strike back as senior midfielder Jordan LoPresti shot from the left side over the goalie's head to score, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
 
With six seconds left on the clock, the Pioneers would have one last opportunity to score off a corner kick, but they were unable to find the equalizer.

Malone will resume play at home as they host Cedarville University on Tuesday, September 8^th at 4:00 p.m.
