The Malone University women's soccer team lost at home to NCAA Division II #8 Grand Valley State University (MI) by the final score of 10-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Lakers netted four of their 10 goals in the first half of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest. Jayma Martin scored Grand Valley State's first goal at the 11:12 marker, while teammates Marti Corby, Clare Carlson, and Tara Lierman scored at the 18:11, 21:20, and 38:41 marks respectively.
The Lakers went on to score the final six goals of the match in the second half to secure the 10-0 victory.
Malone's goal keeper,
Leah Rauscher, tied a season-high with nine saves on the afternoon and now has 49 saves on the season. Junior
Shannon Grimes saw action for the first time this season in the box for the Pioneers and recorded one save on the day.
The Pioneers will travel on the road to face non-conference opponent Seton Hill University (PA) on Tuesday, September 29th at 4:00 p.m.
