The Pioneer volleyball team fell in four sets to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Tiffin University on Saturday afternoon in Osborne Hall. Malone won the first four points of the match en route to a 25-16 first-set win before stumbling in the final three sets. 22-25, 16-25, 17-25.
Senior Sarah Brent collected a season-high 13 kills including 6 in the first set. Elizabeth Maczuzak tallied 10 kills and 3 service aces. Maggie Hamrock had 11 digs in the match while Jordan Cloyd chipped in with 7. Setter Cathryn Miller assisted on 34 of Malone's 45 kills.
Tiffin topped Malone in attack percentage .270 to .177. The Dragons outhit the Pioneers .330 to .158 in the final three sets.
The Pioneers, who fell to 4-7 on the year and 0-2 in the GLIAC, will play again next Friday September 25th when they host NCAA Division II #18 Grand Valley State (MI) at 7 pm.
