The Malone University volleyball team lost in three sets Friday night to visiting Hillsdale College (MI) 14-25, 14-25, 20-25.
The Pioneers, now 10-20 on the year and 3-12 in the GLIAC, struggled with the service game on both sides of the net, committing 8 service errors and 10 reception errors. In total, Malone committed 42 total errors in the match while Hillsdale (19-6, 11-4 GLIAC) committed just 18 errors.
Elizabeth Maczuzak led the Pioneers' offensive attack with 10 kills on a .385 attacking percentage. Jordan Cloyd added 7 kills on a season-best .500 attacking percentage. The rest of the Pioneers struggled offensively against the Chargers' blocking unit, hitting a combined -.072 (14 kills, 19 errors).
Defensively, Cathryn Miller collected a team-high 10 digs to go along with 26 assists to earn her 7th double-double of the season. Lynsey Trusty tallied 9 digs while Maczuzak and Veronica Gehring added 2 blocks each.
