Malone Loses 3-1 to Tiffin

The Malone University men's soccer team lost 3-1 at home to fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) member Tiffin University on Sunday afternoon.

The Dragons wasted no time as they netted their first goal 15 seconds into the first half to grab the early 1-0 lead.

Tiffin scored their final two goals of the game at the 15:45 and 27:12 marker in the first half. The visitors would hold the 3-0 advantage at intermission.

The Pioneers didn't give up as Matt Piccioni dished the ball to Nick Astalos who shot to the right of the goalkeeper to make it a 3-1 contest with four minutes remaining in regulation.

Malone gave great effort until the very end, but they couldn't net another few goals, giving Tiffin the 3-1 victory.

The Pioneers finished the game with a slight 13-to-12 shot advantage over the Dragons.

Malone will travel to Lake Erie College on Friday, October 25th for a 7:00 p.m. match-up.

Game Notes:
-Goalkeeper Jon Crabbs collected three saves on the day to increase his season total to 78. He leads the GLIAC is total saves (78).
-Nick Astalos tallied his sixth goal on the season. He is currently sixth in the GLIAC in goals (six).
-Matt Piccioni registered his fifth assist on the season. He is currently seventh in the GLIAC in assists (seven).
