The Malone University women's soccer team dropped a tough match at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday afternoon by a final score of 3-0. The contest, which marked the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opener for both squads, was controlled by the Cardinals (2-1-1 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) as they outshot the Pioneers by a total of 31-1.
The Malone defense was stingy in the early going, keeping Saginaw Valley State off the score sheet until Annie Aubrey broke the schnide in the 32nd minute. The Cardinals would strike again four minutes later on a goal from Olivia Perrin. Presley Tibbets' second-half free kick marked the game's final tally.

Amanda Hanlon recorded Malone's only shot, forcing a save from Saginaw's goalie.
Malone (1-3 overall, 0-1 GLIAC) next heads to Midland, Michigan to take on Northwood University on Sunday Sept. 16th at 12:00 p.m.
