The Malone University men's soccer team fell at home to Taylor (IN) University on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 4-2 as the visiting Trojans took command of the contest in the early stages of the second half, scoring three quick goals over a four and half minute span to grab a commanding 3-0 lead. Pioneer midfielder Rubem Miranda netted a pair of scores later in the match, but it was not enough to complete the comeback as Taylor went on to record the 4-2 triumph.  The Pioneers' overall record slipped to 3-4 following the defeat while the Trojans stretched their winning streak to five matches, improving their record to 8-1 on the season.

Following a scoreless first half, midfielder Tim Daniels opened the Trojans offensive flurry by netting an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute of play. Forward Danny Cawley then tacked on his second and third goals of the year, the first coming in the 54th minute and the second following less than two minutes later to make the score 3-0.

Miranda answered back for the Pioneers in the 73rd minute of the match as he trimmed the deficit to 3-1 after scoring off a free kick from outside the box.

However, Taylor regained its three-goal advantage less than 10 minutes later as midfielder Tim Miller assisted fellow midfielder Devin Moore on his second goal of the season.

Miranda then concluded the second-half scoring in the 87th minute as he netted his second goal of the match off a pass from forward Kelvin Aquino.

The Pioneers held a 12-10 advantage in shots on goal in the match. Malone keeper Felipe Monteiro played the first 27 minutes in front of the net, making one save before leaving the contest with an injury. Keeper Tim Giesel then entered the contest and stopped four Taylor shots over the final 63 minutes. Trojan keeper Josh Giuliano tallied a total of 10 saves over his 90 minutes of action.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Wednesday evening when they travel to University of Charleston (WV) for a 6:00 p.m. match. The Golden Eagles are NCAA Division II members and currently own an overall record of 2-2.
