The Malone University men's soccer team will begin its pursuit of an Ohio Independent Championship on Thursday evening with a 7:00 p.m. match at Notre Dame College. The Pioneers, 10-8 overall, secured a spot in the four-team OIC field by rallying for a 3-2 overtime win at Urbana University on Monday afternoon.
Malone will compete in Thursday's semifinal match as the tournament's #4 seed and will be looking to knock off the top-seeded Falcons, who enter the contest with a perfect 16-0 record.
The tournament's other semifinal contest will take place on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. with third-seeded Cedarville University (12-5 overall) travelling to second-seeded Walsh University (14-4 overall).
The Ohio Independent Championship Game will be held on Saturday at the home field of the highest remaining seed.
In addition to competing in the OIC postseason tournament, the Pioneers will also take part in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) East Region Tournament later this month. Seeding, tournament pairings and dates of competition have yet to be announced for the NCCAA regional event.
