Box Score

The Malone University women's soccer team endured a tough 2-1 overtime loss at home to Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College on Saturday afternoon as the Raiders picked up the American Mideast Conference victory after scoring the game-winning goal less than two minutes into the extra period. The Pioneers' record fell to 2-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the AMC with the hard-fought defeat while RWC improved to 6-2-0 and 2-0-0 in the conference.

After Roberts Wesleyan grabbed a 1-0 lead with a score midway through the first half, Malone fought back to knot the contest at 1-1 in the 49th minute as defender Chelsea Howell pocketed her second goal of the season off a cross from midfielder Amanda Hanlon. The contest remained deadlocked over the remainder of regulation before Roberts Wesleyan midfielder Mandi Hochheimer brought the match to an end, netting the game-winner in the 92nd minute.

The Pioneers held an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal in the match as Malone keeper Angie Nutial made five saves.

The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Wednesday as the squad travels to Shepherdstown, West Virginia for a 1:00 p.m. against NCAA Division II Shepherd University (2-2-0).
