The Malone University women's soccer team opened American Mideast Conference play on Tuesday evening with a hard-fought 1-0 loss on the road to Cedarville University. The match's lone goal came in the 37th minute of play as Yellow Jacket forward Kelly Wise scored off a pass from midfielder Amanda Bunton. This 1-0 advantage then held over the remainder of the contest as the Cedarville defense clamped down to preserve the shutout victory. The Pioneers' record dropped to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the AMC with the loss while the Yellow Jackets improved to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Cedarville held a 6-2 advantage in total shots on goal over the course of the evening. Malone keeper Angie Nutial made five saves while Yellow Jacket keeper Alysia Bennett stopped both shots she faced to notch her second shutout of the season.

The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Saturday as they continue AMC play with a 1:00 p.m. match at home against Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College (5-2-0, 1-0-0 AMC).
