The Malone University volleyball team picked up a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon in an American Mideast Conference tri-match hosted by Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pioneers opened the day with a 25-10, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22 win over Cedarville University and then picked up a 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 triumph in the finale against the host Celtics. With the victories, Malone clinched a berth in the AMC Postseason Tournament while improving its record to 29-5 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

In the opener against Cedarville, outside hitter Jennifer Gahagan posted 10 kills to go with three service aces, five digs and three blocks (one solo). Middle hitter Lauren Townley followed with eight kills. Outside hitter Lori Gale notched seven kills while also tallying three service aces and five digs. Right-side hitter Megan Fisher registered seven kills with five blocks (one solo). Middle hitter Hannah Haver contributed six kills and seven block assists while setter Jackie Schwamberger recorded 31 assists and a team-high nine digs.

Against Carlow, Gale ripped 14 kills to go with four aces. Gahagan posted eight kills with seven digs. Haver served up a season-high six aces to go with six kills. Fisher, right-side hitter Emily Beiting and outside hitter Tara Lawson all added four kills apiece. Other contributors included Schwamberger with 30 assists and outside hitter Kimberly McCracken with seven digs.

The Pioneers will return to action on Tuesday when they wrap up conference play with a 7:00 p.m. match at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.

Postseason Picture: The top five finishers in the final AMC regular-season standings will qualify for the AMC Postseason Tournament that will be held November 12-13. The winner of this event will then receive the conference's lone automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

With just one AMC match remaining on their schedule (Tuesday at MVNU), the Pioneers have assured themselves of finishing no worse than third in the final regular-season standings. With a win on Tuesday, Malone would still have an outside chance of claiming the regular-season AMC Title.
